As the New Year begins for Hadji Shriners and the future continues to challenge the best that is in each of us, you have given me the reins of leadership and I am filled with hope and faith. I hope for a renewal of spirit and participation in this fraternity that I love. Anyone at the 2011 Christmas Party for our Shriners Hospital children had to be bursting with pride and filled with commitment to our fraternity and our philanthropy. Hadji was Christmas! I sincerely thank all the Nobles, their Ladies and families for participating in that event through your contributions, presence and support. And a special Thank You to now-Assistant Rabban Darrell Mashburn and his Lady Kathy for a fantastic event. We were filled to the brim with spirit, happiness, children, gifts, and food. We worked together with smiles and joy. I have faith in the Nobles of our fraternity. We are Master Masons who have expanded our obligations to include fun, fellowship and our great philanthropy. With our Shrine Obligation we take on responsibilities and commitments that are larger than any one of us—in fact, they are larger than all of us together. And I have faith that 2012 is a year in which each of us will renew our obligation, rededicate our efforts, and focus on our personal relationships in Masonry and Hadji Shriners. We are fortunate to live in a time when that which started for North America has become Shriners International. We have the opportunity to grow and to serve more children. But these are hollow words unless each of us participates—this is not just an opportunity for a few; it is a challenge for all of us. As good as I feel about our new, international scope, our commitment to that future starts at Hadji. We are a part of a whole, but we are Hadji Shriners. That is where I live and serve. That is where we meet and fellowship. That is where we work and celebrate. That is the reason for my motto for 2012:
“Celebrating Hadji”
Come, let’s unite and be all that we can be. Hadji Shriners needs you—your voice, your talents, and your family. Make your commitment and presence known at our Information Meetings at 7:00 PM on the second Wednesday of each month in the Gold Room. Be active in your units, they are the working corps of Hadji. Bring your friends and family to participate in our many events where friendships are formed. Let Hadji Shriners be the place where you and your family meet other families and form lifelong relationships.
Yours in the Faith,
Dan Bodiford
